Admission to the Athletic Training Program is competitive and requires the student to complete an application separate from the TCU undergraduate admission application.  Admission to the program is limited (approximately 10 – 12 students per year).  In order to be considered for Fall 2014 admission, applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2014.  All applications received after this date will be considered for Fall 2015 admission. Applicants selected for admission will be notified by mail and must accept the position by May 1, 2014.  Admission is competitive and submission of materials does not guarantee admittance to the AT Program.

To be considered for admission into the AT Program students must submit:

  • Copy of TCU letter of acceptance
  • Completed AT Program application
  • Two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a certified/licensed athletic trainer)
  • Copy of all academic transcripts (high school and college, if applicable); a minimum high school GPA of 2.75 is required
  • Copy of current First Aid and CPR/AED certification cards
  • Interview (on campus interviews are preferred but phone interviews will be available for those students unable to travel)

Transfer students will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and should contact the Program Director prior to application.

Upon admission, students are required to have a physical exam by the TCU AT Program Medical Director; show documentation of immunization for hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria; varicella (or documentation of history of the chicken pox); show proof of a current TB skin test; and attest that they meet the technical standards established by the program.
